This month I thought 'a change is as good as a rest', and as such have decided to talk to you directly through the medium of film...well bit of video at least! In all honesty I have had so much paperwork of late I simply didn't have the heart to sit and trash it all out on the PC but thanks to the power of technology here I am, in all my un-edited glory.
Do let me know your opinion on Vlog -V- Blog and let me know what you're up to too for Culture night next month...I'm always keen to know what's going on outside of these studio doors x. N.

Hambly and Hambly at Dunbar House in Enniskillen.
I have had the distinct pleasure of having my work accepted by one of my very favourite Galleries, Hambly & Hambly at Dunbar House. (See images below, of pieces currently available there). One of my first encounters with this fantastic large Commercial Gallery came through Facebook, I was astounded by how many of the artists I follow, love and admire where on show here....I quickly joined their mailing list and when well enough started to attend some of their amazing and varied exhibitions and happenings.
In 2018 my work was accepted for the 1ft sq show, an annual exhibition I have been delighted to be included in now for some years, with the unfortunate closing of the wonderful Higherbridges Gallery in Enniskillen the exhibition was opened in the Strule Arts Centre in Omagh. It was a successful exhibition with the usual mix of stunning works from all levels of creative....It was decided by the powers that be that the exhibition should again be shown in its original hometown of Enniskillen and Hambly & Hambly was the chosen destination much to my absolute delight. This was the first introduction of my work to this prominent Gallery and our relationship has developed from there.
I am seriously thrilled to tell you my work is available in the same space as so very many of my peers & idols, contemporary & modern artists and abstractionists...this progressive vibrant and quite possibly largest commercial Gallery in the region is ticking all my boxes, do yourself a favour and go visit, the breath of work is outstanding, varied and exciting and the venue itself a hidden oasis of grace and elegance.
Shifting walls on show until Aug 24th at Strule Arts Centre, Omagh.
We had a wonderful night at our Opening Reception for #shiftingwalls in Strule Arts Centre, Omagh...or so I'm told! Due to a calendar clash I was unable to attend the opening night...we knew this as soon as our dates came in and whilst it was unfortunate it was unavoidable.
Kate, Jo, Roisin, Jackie and Sinead were all there, along with Fermanagh and Omaghs District Council Arts Manager Byrony May who so readily agreed to open on our behalf ..and what a fine job she did (https://www.instagram.com/p/B0Wv-xUlbRj/?igshid=yczlbiykga0c) and thank you again Byrony, your support means a great deal to us all.
I had mentioned earlier there are plans afoot for a closing event in Strule before this exhibition continues onto its next destination (The Markethouse, Monaghan followed by Droichead Arts Centre, Louth). However at time of writing we are still finalizing these details, coordinating so many busy diaries is never a simple task and I shall of course tell you all as soon as I can on the date settled, for now I'll leave you with an open invitation to go see our exhibition, enjoy our work and feel free to let us know your opinion or indeed share your #shiftingwalls story.
Next Saturday I am teaching in Armagh....wanna join me?

Its Tuesday morning and finally the van...or should that read VANS are packed! The excitement is palpable as are the nerves....nothing major just the usual worries, did we forget
...Hi all, I know I've to stop starting every blog post with a "can you believe what month it is already"!! comment... but Jaysus lads its JULY!!!!
And July in my world means only one thing...I have 25 days to tell you about a wonderful new exhibition, a collaboration of minds, hearts and occurrences that are about to happen through my artwork and the artwork of these wonderful wonderful creative minds pictured below!
Well June has been a busy one as predicted folks, several classes including wax and pigment printmaking in the Droichead arts centre in Drogheda in Co.Louth, a wax and iron workshop in the gorgeous renovated Ulster Canal Stores in Clones in Co. Monaghan AND a three day retreat weekend wax and iron workshop for ladies from Cork, Clare and Roscommon in the An Grianan retreat house in Termonfeckin for the ICA. I loved every minute of it, if you were with me for any of these events I do hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
July is warming up to be equally busy, but this month its not classes I'm focussed on rather a wonderful new exhibition I am delighted to tell you about.....keep following this blog for all the details and save the 25th July on the calender x N.
So if you follow this page and my story at all, you will know I have a long running story with my health, not least, I suffered a chronic blood disorder in my late teens & early twenties and that at this time a daily platelet transfusion saved me!
So many people are here still because of the selflessness of others...those that give blood really do change and save lives and I for one am so very grateful x
So imagine my surprise and pleasure when a local GAA rising star is interviewed about his heart condition and life saving blood transfusion in front of MY artwork, artwork that deals with issues such as overcoming life's obstacles and hurdles...it seemed so appropriate...and Im so happy for this young man that he too was offered the gift of life through blood transfusion.
if you can, please consider becoming a blood donor, you will never know the good you do x
